Step 3 · Free the Jammed Motor (If Necessary)
This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.
If the disposal still doesn't work, the motor might be jammed. Locate the small hex-shaped hole at the bottom of the unit. Insert an Allen wrench (usually a 1/4 inch) into the hole. Gently rotate the wrench back and forth to free any obstructions. This may dislodge a small object stuck in the grinding chamber. If you encounter significant resistance, stop and call a plumber.
