Step 2 · Clear Blockages in the Toilet Drain Line

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

If the vent stack is clear, the gurgling might be due to a partial clog in the drain line. Use a plumbing snake (also known as a drain auger) to clear the obstruction. Carefully feed the snake into the drain opening. If you encounter resistance, gently rotate and push the snake to break up and remove the blockage. For stubborn clogs or particularly difficult bends, you may need an electric drain snake with a clog cutter.
