Step 2 · Remove the Old Diverter Valve

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Carefully remove the existing diverter valve handle and escutcheon plate. This often involves unscrewing the handle and then removing the decorative plate. Take photos to help with reassembly.
