Step 4 · Attempt Removal with Wiggling and Pulling

This is the step most people slow down on. Take it one move at a time — there’s no rush, and you can rewind the clip as many times as you need.

After allowing the penetrating oil to work, attempt to remove the handle again. Grasp the handle firmly. While pulling straight up, apply a wiggling or rocking motion. Wiggle the handle back-and-forth and side-to-side. This complex motion helps to break the final bonds of the corrosion that the oil has weakened. Be firm but controlled. The goal is to break it free with persistent motion, not brute force. If it moves slightly, that's a good sign. Continue wiggling and pulling upwards until it slides off the valve stem. If it doesn't budge, do not escalate the force; proceed to the next step.
