Step 3 · Remove the Shower Trim Components

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Remove the escutcheon plate and other trim components to expose the valve. Carefully pry off the escutcheon plate (using a putty knife if needed) or unscrew it, depending on your faucet model. Take photos to help with reassembly.
