Begin by assembling all necessary tools and supplies in your work area. This prevents interruptions during the repair. You will need a set of Allen wrenches to remove the handle's set screw, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers for the trim plate screws, and channel-lock pliers for the large bonnet nut on Delta models. A rag is essential for cleaning and protecting surfaces. Finally, have your new replacement cartridge and a small amount of plumber's grease ready for installation. A dedicated cartridge puller tool is highly recommended, especially for stubborn Moen cartridges.
