Step 4 · Evaluate and Decide: Repair or Replace Your Water Heater?

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Consider your hot water needs and budget. If your water heater is nearing the end of its lifespan or showing significant wear (like substantial rust or leaks), replacement is usually the best option. Repair might be viable for minor issues, but a major repair on an old heater could be cost-prohibitive and short-lived.
