Step 3 · Check the Water Heater Thermostat

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

If the heating elements are okay, the problem might lie with the thermostat. Use your multimeter to check if the thermostat is correctly functioning. Run some hot water to activate the thermostat and use the multimeter to verify whether the correct voltage (240V typically) is reaching the heating elements. A faulty thermostat will need replacing.
