Step 2 · Position and Begin Wrapping Clockwise

The direction of the wrap is the most critical aspect of this process. Hold the male fitting in one hand and the roll of thread seal tape in the other. Place the end of the tape on the second thread from the end of the pipe, holding it firmly in place with your thumb. You will be wrapping the tape in a clockwise direction as if you are looking directly at the end of the fitting. This ensures that when you screw on the female fitting (which also turns clockwise), the friction will tighten the tape rather than unravel it.
