Step 5 · Final Flush and Test

After you believe the clog has been broken up or removed with the auger, perform a final flush to confirm the pipe is clear. Remove the auger completely and use the garden hose again to spray water down the vent pipe for several minutes. The water should flow freely down the pipe without any signs of backing up. Have your partner confirm by flushing a toilet or running a sink; the gurgling noises should be gone, and the drain should flow quickly and smoothly.
