Step 2 · Detecting Toilet Leaks: The Food Coloring Test and More

Add a few drops of food coloring to the toilet tank. If the color appears in the bowl without flushing, you have a leak. Additionally, visually inspect the toilet tank and bowl for cracks or other signs of damage. Pay close attention to the area where the tank and bowl meet and around the base of the toilet. Check the handle for looseness or damage, which could also contribute to leaks.
