Step 3 · Replace the O-rings and Seals

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Inspect the O-rings and seals on the valve stem carefully. Replace any that are worn, damaged, brittle, or cracked. Use a small screwdriver or needle-nose pliers to remove the old ones. A faucet repair kit will have suitable replacements. Make sure the new O-rings fit snugly into their grooves.
