Proper grounding is crucial for safety and to protect equipment from surges. Connect a dedicated ground wire from the common negative busbar (where the battery negative, MPPT negative, and inverter negative connect) to a ground rod or the main grounding system of the premises. The diagram shows a green ground wire originating from the MPPT (representing the DC common bus) and connecting to an earth ground symbol. This ensures that any fault currents on the DC side of the system are safely diverted to the earth.
