Step 6 · Evacuate and Charge Refrigerant Lines

Connect a manifold gauge set to the service ports on the outdoor unit. Use a vacuum pump to evacuate the refrigerant lines, pulling a deep vacuum (typically below 500 microns) to remove all air and moisture. Hold the vacuum for a specified time to ensure no leaks are present. Once the system is properly evacuated, close the vacuum pump valve, and charge the system with the correct type and amount of refrigerant as specified by the manufacturer's data plate.
