Step 4 · Replace the Leaky Cartridge or Repair the Valve Stem

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Once you’ve accessed the cartridge or valve stem, inspect it for wear and tear. If the cartridge is damaged, replace it with a new one. If the valve stem is the problem, you might be able to repair it with new O-rings or washers. Refer to your faucet's manufacturer instructions for specific repair steps.
