Step 1 · Prepare the Workspace

Begin by completely clearing out the cabinet space beneath the bathroom sink. This will give you ample room to work and see the plumbing components. Place a small bucket or a plastic container directly under the sink's drain pipe (the P-trap). Lay down an old towel around the bucket to catch any potential drips or spills. Use a flashlight or headlamp to illuminate the area, as it is often dark and difficult to see the small parts of the drain assembly.
