Step 3 · Identify Adjustment Components

Identify the key components of the adjustment mechanism. You will see the lift rod, which is the thin vertical rod connected to the knob on your faucet. This rod passes through a flat, perforated bar called the clevis strap. The lift rod is secured to the clevis strap with a small clevis screw. The clevis strap is then connected to the pivot rod (the horizontal rod you loosened in the previous step) by a spring clip. Understanding how these four parts—lift rod, clevis strap, spring clip, and pivot rod—interact is key to making the correct adjustment.
